AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to directing the state
fire prevention and building code council to examine, evaluate and
make recommendations concerning the standardization of state and local
building codes and permit processes for the purpose of facilitating
installation of solar and wind energy generating systems
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 375 of the executive law is amended by adding a new
2 subdivision 8 to read as follows:
3 8. To examine, evaluate, and make recommendations concerning the
4 standardization of the uniform code and local building codes and permit
5 processes for the purpose of facilitating and encouraging the installa-
6 tion and operation of solar and wind energy generating systems through-
7 out the state. For this purpose, the council is authorized to hold
8 public hearings and consult with the solar and wind energy generating
9 industry throughout the state. Any recommendations formulated pursuant
10 to this subdivision shall be submitted to the governor, the secretary of
11 state, the temporary president of the senate and the speaker of the
12 assembly along with such legislative proposals as the council deems
13 necessary to implement its recommendations.
14 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
