        AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to meetings of  the  city
          board, city-wide councils, community councils and school based manage-
          ment teams
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 2590-b of the education law is amended by adding  a
     2  new subdivision 9 to read as follows:
     3    9.  Notwithstanding any provision of article seven of the public offi-
     4  cers law to the contrary, the city board,  city-wide  councils  and  the
     5  community councils continued or established pursuant to this section may
     6  conduct  meetings  or parts thereof required to be public by section one
     7  hundred three of the public officers law  remotely  by  videoconference,
     8  without  the  physical  presence  of members of the public or members of
     9  such city board, city-wide council or community council,  provided  that
    10  such  meetings  or  parts  thereof comply with the requirements of para-
    11  graphs (d), (f), (g), (h) and (i) of  subdivision  two  of  section  one
    12  hundred three-a of the public officers law.
    13    § 2. Subparagraph (ii) of paragraph (b-1) of subdivision 15 of section
    14  2590-h the education law, as amended by chapter 345 of the laws of 2009,
    15  is amended to read as follows:
    16    (ii)  hold  at  least  one  meeting  per month during the school year;
    17  provided, however, that notwithstanding any provision of  article  seven
    18  of  the  public  officers  law  to the contrary, school based management
    19  teams may conduct meetings or parts thereof required  to  be  public  by
    20  section  one hundred three of the public officers law remotely by video-
    21  conference without the physical presence of members  of  the  public  or
    22  members  of such school based management teams, provided that such meet-
    23  ings or parts thereof comply with the requirements  of  paragraphs  (d),
    24  (f),  (g), (h) and (i) of subdivision two of section one hundred three-a

     1  of the public officers law. Each monthly meeting shall be held at a time
     2  that is convenient for the parent representatives;
     3    §  3.  This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that
     4  the amendments to section 2590-b of the education law  made  by  section
     5  one  of  this  act  shall  not affect the expiration of such section and
     6  shall expire therewith; and provided further, however, that  the  amend-
     7  ments  to  paragraph  (b-1)  of  subdivision 15 of section 2590-h of the
     8  education law made by section two of  this  act  shall  not  affect  the
     9  repeal of such paragraph and shall be deemed repealed therewith.
