        Introduced  by M. of A. ASHBY -- read once and referred to the Committee
          on Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development
 
        AN ACT to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law,  in
          relation  to  providing free use of state parks for state residents on
          weekdays excluding public holidays

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The  parks,  recreation  and historic preservation law is
     2  amended by adding a new section 13.22 to read as follows:
     3    § 13.22 Free use of state parks on weekdays excluding public holidays.
     4  Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law, any  person  who  is  a
     5  resident  of  New  York  state,  upon  proof of such residence, shall be
     6  permitted to use any of the state  parks  in  this  state  on  weekdays,
     7  excluding  public  holidays  as  defined  in  section twenty-four of the
     8  general construction law, without the  payment  of  any  fees  or  other
     9  charges for the use of such state parks.
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
