        Introduced  by  M.  of  A.  O'DONNELL  --  read once and referred to the
          Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions
 
        AN ACT to amend the public service law, in relation to prohibiting cable
          television companies  from  collecting  payment  when  an  unsolicited
          reduction to service occurs

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 224-b of the  public  service  law  is  amended  by
     2  adding a new subdivision 3 to read as follows:
     3    3.  If  a  cable television company reduces the channels provided to a
     4  customer without such customer requesting  such  reduction,  such  cable
     5  television  company  is  prohibited  from  requesting  and/or collecting
     6  payment from such customer.
     7    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
