        AN ACT to amend the public housing law, in relation to requiring certain
          public residential buildings to maintain a supply of naloxone
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. The public housing law is amended by adding a  new  section
     2  229 to read as follows:
     3    § 229. Naloxone in certain public residential buildings. 1. Any public
     4  residential  building  that  receives  funding through the department of
     5  housing and urban development or the division of housing  and  community
     6  renewal  shall  have  a  supply of at least one dose of naloxone readily
     7  accessible for residential use.
     8    2. Such naloxone shall be located in a common  area  of  the  building
     9  which  may  include  but  shall  not  be limited to a lobby, hallway, or
    10  common living space accessible to all residents in the building,  or  in
    11  another  location in the building where it is clearly visible and acces-
    12  sible to building residents.
    13    3. Such naloxone shall be stored in a  secure,  closed,  but  unlocked
    14  container which is readily accessible by building residents.
    15    4.  It shall be the responsibility of the office of addiction services
    16  and supports to maintain such supply of naloxone. The  building  manager
    17  shall  coordinate  with  such office to ensure that at least one dose of
    18  naloxone is available at all times.
    19    5. Funding for such  program  shall  be  provided  by  the  office  of
    20  addiction  services  and  supports and the opioid settlement fund estab-
    21  lished pursuant to section ninety-nine-nn of the state finance law.
    22    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
