        AN  ACT  to  amend  the  civil service law, in relation to providing for
          school district employees who have been provisionally appointed  to  a
          position  for  at  least nine months without an exam being offered for
          such position to receive a permanent appointment in such position
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. Section 65 of the civil service law is amended by adding a
     2  new subdivision 7 to read as follows:
     3    7. Provisional appointments within school districts.   Notwithstanding
     4  any  inconsistent  provision of this chapter or any other law or rule to
     5  the contrary, where a school district has made a provisional appointment
     6  to a position and no civil service examination  for  such  position  has
     7  been  conducted  within nine months of such appointment, the provisional
     8  appointment shall not expire under subdivision two of this  section  and
     9  instead  the  provisional  appointee  shall be appointed to the position
    10  permanently and shall be considered to have  been  appointed  consistent
    11  with section sixty-one of this title.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
