        Introduced  by  M.  of  A.  O'DONNELL  --  read once and referred to the

        AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to  requiring  a
          nominal  bail  informational  proceeding  for any defendant being held
          solely due to a bail amount of less than ten dollars

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The  criminal  procedure  law  is amended by adding a new
     2  section 530.41 to read as follows:
     3  § 530.41 Nominal bail informational proceedings.
     4    When a defendant is being held for one or more charges solely due to a
     5  bail amount of less than ten  dollars,  such  individual  shall,  within
     6  forty-eight hours, be brought before the court for a nominal bail infor-
     7  mational proceeding and informed of such bail amount.
     8    §  2.  This  act  shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall
     9  have become a law.
