AN ACT to direct the division of veterans services and the division of
the budget to conduct a study on veterans services provided to resi-
dents of the state; and providing for the repeal of such provisions
upon expiration thereof
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. 1. (a) The division of veterans services, in consultation
2 with the division of the budget, shall conduct a study on veterans
3 services provided to residents of New York state.
4 (b) Such study shall include, but not be limited to:
5 i. a list of all veterans services agencies and not-for-profit organ-
6 izations which provide services to veterans;
7 ii. the counties served by each veterans services agency or not-for-
8 profit organization; and
9 iii. the services provided by each veterans services agency or not-
10 for-profit organization.
11 2. On or before one year from the effective date of this act, the
12 division of veterans services shall submit such study to the governor,
13 the temporary president of the senate, the speaker of the assembly, all
14 members of the senate committee on veterans, homeland security and mili-
15 tary affairs, and the assembly committee on veterans services.
16 3. The division of veterans services and the division of the budget
17 may request, and are authorized to receive, any information from any
18 state agency that is relevant and material to the completion of such
19 study. Such information received by the division of veterans services
20 shall be subject to the same requirements for confidentiality and limi-
21 tations on use, if any, as are applicable to such state agency's use of
22 such information.
23 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be
24 deemed repealed January 1, 2021.
