        AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to school district shared
          transportation services
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Subdivision 7 of section  3602  of  the  education  law  is
     2  amended by adding a new paragraph f to read as follows:
     3    f.  In addition to any other apportionment under this subdivision, for
     4  the two thousand eighteen--two thousand nineteen school year and  there-
     5  after,  a  school district shall be eligible for an incentive apportion-
     6  ment for entering into a contract  for  shared  transportation  services
     7  between  two  or  more other public school districts. The amount of such
     8  apportionment under this paragraph shall be equal to the product of  (i)
     9  the  amount  of  cost savings accruing to the public school district for
    10  entering into an agreement for  shared  transportation  and  (ii)  fifty
    11  percent.  For  the  purpose of this paragraph, the commissioner shall be
    12  authorized to approve any contract for  shared  transportation  services
    13  between  two or more public school districts pursuant to section thirty-
    14  six hundred twenty-five of this article and provided a  school  district
    15  claiming  an  incentive  apportionment  under such contract shall demon-
    16  strate cost savings in accordance with  guidelines  established  by  the
    17  commissioner.  For  the  purposes  of  this subdivision, a public school
    18  district  shall  mean  common  school  districts,  consolidated   school
    19  districts,  central  school  districts,  central  high school districts,
    20  union free school districts, and city school districts other than a city
    21  school district in a city having a population of  one  million  or  more
    22  inhabitants.
    23    §  2.  This act shall take effect on the first of July next succeeding
    24  the date on which it shall have become a law.
