          Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions
 
        AN ACT to amend a chapter of the laws of 2019, relating to directing the
          metropolitan  transportation  authority  to  rename   certain   subway
          stations,  as  proposed  in legislative bills numbers S. 3439-A and A.
          1512-A, in  relation  to  directing  the  metropolitan  transportation
          authority  and  the  New York City transit authority to rename certain
          subway stations
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Section  1  of a chapter of the laws of 2019, relating to
     2  directing the metropolitan transportation authority  to  rename  certain
     3  subway  stations, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 3439-A and
     4  A. 1512-A, is amended to read as follows:
     5    Section 1. [The] Upon a determination by the Metropolitan  Transporta-
     6  tion  Authority  or  the New York City Transit Authority that sufficient
     7  funds have been committed to  it  specifically  for  such  purpose,  the
     8  Metropolitan  Transportation  Authority,  the public benefit corporation
     9  created by section twelve hundred sixty-three of the public  authorities
    10  law,  and the New York City Transit Authority, the public benefit corpo-
    11  ration created by section twelve hundred one of the  public  authorities
    12  law, shall use such specifically committed funds to rename the President
    13  Street  subway  station  on the IRT Nostrand Avenue line of the New York
    14  city subway [is hereby named] to the President  Street  -  Medgar  Evers
    15  College  station and the Franklin Avenue subway station on the IRT East-
    16  ern Parkway line [is hereby named] of the New York City  subway  to  the
    17  Franklin  Avenue  -  Medgar  Evers College station. The MTA shall ensure
    18  that all signs, [maps,] and any  other  items  issued  by  the  MTA  are
    19  updated  to accurately reflect the new name of the stations within [such
    20  time and in such manner as the MTA shall deem appropriate] ten months.
    21    § 2. Section 2 of a chapter of the laws of 2019, relating to directing
    22  the metropolitan  transportation  authority  to  rename  certain  subway
    23  stations,  as  proposed  in  legislative  bills numbers S. 3439-A and A.
    24  1512-A, is amended to read as follows:
 
         EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
                              [ ] is old law to be omitted.

     1    § 2. This act shall take  effect  immediately,  and  shall  be  deemed
     2  repealed  after  the  signs, and any other items are accurately updated.
     3  The chief executive officer of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority
     4  or president of the New York City transit  authority  shall  notify  the
     5  legislative bill drafting commission upon the completion of such updates
     6  in  order that the commission may maintain an accurate and timely effec-
     7  tive data base of the official text of the laws of the state of New York
     8  in furtherance of effectuating the  provisions  of  section  44  of  the
     9  legislative law and section 70-b of the public officers law.
    10    §  3.  This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that
    11  section one of this act shall take effect on the same date  and  in  the
    12  same  manner as a chapter of the laws of 2019, relating to directing the
    13  metropolitan transportation authority to rename certain subway stations,
    14  as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 3439-A and A. 1512-A.
