        Introduced  by  M.  of  A.  JACKSON,  DICKENS,  ARDILA  -- read once and
          referred to the  Committee  on  Consumer  Affairs  and  Protection  --
          committee  discharged,  bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and
          recommitted to said committee
 
        AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to personal infor-
          mation being removed from rental vehicles

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Section  396-z  of the general business law is amended by
     2  adding a new subdivision 17 to read as follows:
     3    17. A rental vehicle company shall:
     4    (a) include in the car  rental  agreement  a  clause  instructing  the
     5  renter to remove their personal information from vehicles before return-
     6  ing the vehicle.
     7    (b)  have  the  option  to  place  inside  all rental vehicles a decal
     8  instructing renters to remove their personal information from the  vehi-
     9  cle before returning the vehicle.
    10    §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
    11  have become a law; provided however that the amendments to section 396-z
    12  of the general business law made  by  section  one  of  this  act  shall
    13  survive  the  expiration  and  reversion  of such section as provided in
    14  subdivision (a) of section 4 of chapter 109 of  the  laws  of  2018,  as
    15  amended.
