        Introduced by M. of A. ABBATE -- read once and referred to the Committee
          on Governmental Employees
 
        AN  ACT  to amend the civil service law, in relation to positions in the
          competitive class of the state
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The  civil service law is amended by adding a new section

     2  44-a to read as follows:
     3    § 44-a. Competitive classes of the state. No position in  the  classi-
     4  fied  service  of  the state which has previously been classified in the
     5  competitive class shall be  reclassified  into  the  non-competitive  or
     6  exempt class.
     7    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
