Go to top STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 10138 IN ASSEMBLY June 16, 2014 ___________ Introduced by COMMITTEE ON RULES -- (at request of M. of A. Thiele) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Labor AN ACT to amend the labor law, in relation to authorized absences by members of volunteer fire departments and volunteer ambulance squads who respond to states of emergency The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 2 of section 202-l of the 2 labor law, as added by a chapter of the laws of 2014, amending the labor 3 law relating to authorized absences by members of volunteer fire depart- 4 ments and volunteer ambulance squads who respond to states of emergency, 5 as proposed in legislative bill numbers S.7111-B and A.9849-A, is 6 amended to read as follows: 7 (a) The employer has previously received written documentation from 8 the head of the employee's volunteer fire department or volunteer ambu- 9 lance service, as applicable, notifying the employer of the employee's 10 status as a volunteer firefighter or member of a volunteer ambulance 11 service; [or] and 12 § 2. This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same 13 manner as a chapter of the laws of 2014 amending the labor law relating 14 to authorized absences by members of volunteer fire departments and 15 volunteer ambulance squads who respond to states of emergency, as 16 proposed in legislative bill numbers S.7111-B and A.9849-A, takes 17 effect.
