        Introduced  by  M.  of  A. L. ROSENTHAL -- read once and referred to the
          Committee on Housing
 
        AN ACT in relation to suspending any rent increases for rent  controlled
          tenants for a period of one year; and providing for the repeal of such
          provisions upon expiration thereof
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision  of  law,  rule,  regu-
     2  lation,  charter  or  administrative  code,  tenants of housing accommo-
     3  dations which are subject to rent control under state or local law shall
     4  not be subject to any increase in rent, including but not limited to any
     5  increase in the existing maximum base rent, maximum collectible rent, or
     6  any increase as a result of a major capital improvement or vacancy,  for
     7  a  period  of  one  year after the effective date of this act.  Any rent
     8  increase to any such tenant during this period shall be null and void.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall  expire  and  be
    10  deemed repealed 1 year after such date.
