        Introduced  by  M.  of A. SALADINO, MONTESANO, McKEVITT -- read once and
          referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations --  reported  and
          referred to the Committee on Rules -- Rules Committee discharged, bill
          amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to the Committee
          on Rules
 
        AN ACT designating certain park lands located in the county of Nassau as

          the Angelo D.  Roncallo Memorial Preserve
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Legislative findings. The  legislature  hereby  finds  that
     2  Angelo  D.  Roncallo has given many years of dedicated public service to
     3  the people of Nassau county.
     4    Angelo D. Roncallo was born in Port Chester, New York.  He  served  in
     5  the United States Army from 1944 until 1945. He graduated from Manhattan
     6  College  in 1950 and received a law degree from Georgetown University in
     7  1953. He served as a town councilman for the town  of  Oyster  Bay,  New
     8  York  from 1965 until 1967 and as comptroller of Nassau county, New York
     9  from 1968 until 1972.
    10    Angelo D. Roncallo was elected to the United States Congress  in  1972
    11  and  served  from  January 3, 1973 until January 3, 1975. He served as a

    12  justice of the New York State Supreme Court from 1977 until 1995. He was
    13  a resident of Massapequa, New York.   Throughout his career,  Angelo  D.
    14  Roncallo dedicated himself to his community and civic responsibilities.
    15    Angelo  D. Roncallo passed away on May 4, 2010. The dedication of this
    16  parcel of land located within the county of  Nassau  in  his  name  will
    17  memorialize  his strong and effective advocacy for his community and his
    18  unyielding commitment to the county of Nassau.
    19    § 2. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the portion
    20  of park land known as the Viceroy Section (East Branch), East fork north
    21  of  Southern  State  Parkway,  Tax  Lot  p/o  48-600-1,  extending  from
    22  Radcliffe  Avenue  to  Eleventh  Avenue,  covering a total area of 31.81
    23  acres in the vicinity of Massapequa, town of Oyster Bay under the juris-

    24  diction of the office of parks, recreation and historic preservation, in
    25  the town of Oyster Bay, county of Nassau, under lease to the  county  of

     1  Nassau,  shall  be  known  as the Angelo D.  Roncallo Memorial Preserve.
     2  Said preserve shall be suitably marked in a manner to be  prescribed  by
     3  the office of parks, recreation and historic preservation.
     4    § 3.  This act shall take effect immediately.
