        Introduced by COMMITTEE ON RULES -- (at request of M. of A. Bichotte) --
          read once and referred to the Committee on Election Law
 
        AN  ACT  in  relation  to  the  convening of meetings by county election
          committees during the COVID-19 pandemic; and providing for the  repeal
          of such provisions upon expiration thereof
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions  of  section  2-112  of  the
     2  election  law  or  any other provision of law, rule or regulation to the
     3  contrary, county committees shall  meet  and  organize  as  provided  in
     4  section  2-112  of  the  election law between 100 and 120 days after the
     5  Governor has declared that the  social  distancing  restrictions  imple-
     6  mented  in  response  to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic state
     7  disaster emergency declared by Executive Order Number 202 of  2020  have
     8  been  eased  sufficiently to allow meetings in excess of 500 persons, or
     9  in cities with a population in excess of one million, 1000  persons,  to
    10  be legally convened. Such county committees, elected and organized prior
    11  to  January  1,  2020  and  their previously elected officers, rules and
    12  members, shall continue to possess  and  exercise  all  legal  authority
    13  until after such subsequent organization as provided in this act.
    14    §  2.  This  act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be
    15  deemed repealed June 30, 2021.
