Go to top STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 10657 IN ASSEMBLY August 12, 2022 ___________ Introduced by COMMITTEE ON RULES -- (at request of M. of A. Simon) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Cities AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to establishing a no fare program for students traveling on ferries The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The administrative code of the city of New York is amended 2 by adding a new section 19-308 to read as follows: 3 § 19-308 No fare program for students. a. Notwithstanding any other 4 provisions of law or the terms of any contract, the commissioner shall 5 establish and implement a no fare program for students traveling on city 6 ferries. 7 b. For purposes of this section, the following terms shall have the 8 following meanings: 9 1. "Student" shall mean any individual in grades kindergarten through 10 twelve. 11 2. "City ferry" shall mean any motorized watercraft that is used as a 12 means of commuter passenger mass transportation by water that is owned 13 or operated by or on behalf of the city. 14 § 2.
