        Introduced  by  COMMITTEE  ON RULES -- (at request of M. of A. L. Rosen-
          thal) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Housing
 
        AN ACT to amend the real property law and the administrative code of the
          city of New York, in relation to prohibiting landlords from  reporting
          a late rent payment to a consumer reporting agency

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 235-e of the real property law is amended by adding
     2  a new subdivision (e) to read as follows:
     3    (e) No lessor or agent of  a  lessor  shall  report  to  any  consumer
     4  reporting  agency,  as  defined in section three hundred eighty-a of the
     5  general business law, any late payment of rent.
     6    § 2. Section 26-412 of the administrative code of the city of New York
     7  is amended by adding a new subdivision g to read as follows:
     8    g. It shall be unlawful for a landlord or a successor in  interest  to
     9  report to any consumer reporting agency, as defined in section 20-807 of
    10  this chapter, any late payment of rent.
    11    §  3.  This  act shall take effect immediately, provided, however that
    12  the amendments to section 26-412 of the city rent and rehabilitation law
    13  made by section two of this act shall remain in full  force  and  effect
    14  only  as  long  as the emergency requiring the regulation and control of
    15  rents and evictions continues, as provided in subdivision 3 of section 1
    16  of the local emergency housing rent control act.
