        Introduced  by M. of A. MAGEE -- read once and referred to the Committee
          on Election Law
 
        AN ACT authorizing the taking and filing of oaths of office
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Notwithstanding  any other law, rule or regulation to the
     2  contrary, any town, city or county official duly elected on November  7,
     3  2017  who  currently  occupies the office to which he or she was elected
     4  but who failed to take or file his or  her  respective  oath  of  office
     5  within the statutorily prescribed period shall continue to serve in such
     6  capacity  and  for the full term to which he or she was elected upon the
     7  taking and filing of oaths of office consistent with section 402 of  the
     8  county  law,  section  25  of  the town law, or section 10 of the public
     9  officers law, provided such oaths are taken and filed within 30 calendar
    10  days after the effective date of this act. Such officials that take  and
    11  file  their  oaths of office under this act shall be deemed to have been
    12  continuously serving in office since the beginning of the term to  which
    13  they were elected.
    14    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
