          read once and referred to the Committee on Higher Education
 
        AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to establishing a program
          to incentivize unemployed individuals to enter jobs in healthcare
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 305 of the education law is amended by adding a new
     2  subdivision 59 to read as follows:
     3    59.  Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the commis-
     4  sioner, in conjunction with the commissioner of health and  the  commis-
     5  sioner  of labor shall establish a program which incentivizes unemployed
     6  individuals to enter jobs in healthcare, including but not  limited  to,
     7  certified nurse aides. Such incentives shall include, but not be limited
     8  to,  expedited  training and certification processes for such healthcare
     9  positions as determined by the commissioner.
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
