        Introduced  by  M. of A. GOTTFRIED -- (at request of the Office of Court
          Administration) -- read once and referred to the Committee on  Govern-
          mental Operations
 
        AN  ACT  to  amend the public officers law, in relation to expanding the
          definition of "employee" for the purposes of defense and  indemnifica-
          tion of certain nonjudicial employees
 

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 17 of the public officers  law  is
     2  amended by adding a new paragraph (w) to read as follows:
     3    (w)  For purposes of this section, the term "employee" shall include a
     4  person certified by the office of court administration and paid  by  the
     5  city  of  New  York  to  serve  as  a  guardian ad litem in an action or
     6  proceeding pending in the housing part of the civil court of the city of
     7  New York.
     8    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
