CONGRATULATING Anice Orvananos upon the occasion
of winning the Division II Women's Foil Gold Medal
at the 2022 USA Fencing National Championships and
July Challenge
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Anice Orvananos upon the occasion of winning the Division
II Women's Foil Gold Medal at the 2022 USA Fencing National
Championships and July Challenge on July 9, 2022, in Minneapolis,
Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, A fencing phenomenon at only 14 years-old, Anice Orvnanos,
of Riverhead, New York, surpassed a challenging field of 127 of the
Nation's best foil fencers on her journey to a national championship;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to her many accomplishments as a fencer, Anice
Orvananos is an exceptional student, maintaining impressive grades at
the Horace Mann School in the Bronx, New York; and
WHEREAS, In a sport such as fencing, which demands athletic prowess,
speed and agility, and mental preparation, Anice Orvananos has worked
hard to hone her impressive skills; her loved ones and community eagerly
look forward to where she will go next in this sport; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Anice Orvananos upon the occasion of winning the Division
II Women's Foil Gold Medal at the 2022 USA Fencing National
Championships and July Challenge; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Anice Orvananos.
