Senate Resolution No. 57
 
BY: Senator BRESLIN
 
        HONORING  Regina  S.  LaGatta upon the occasion of
        her  designation  for  special  recognition  by  the
        Academy of Holy Names on November 15, 2018
 
  WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and   publicly  acknowledge  individuals  of  remarkable  integrity  and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in  the
great State of New York; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Regina S. LaGatta upon the  occasion  of  her  designation  for  special
recognition  by  the  Academy  of  Holy  Names  to  be celebrated at its
Partners in Education Scholarship Luncheon  on  Thursday,  November  15,
2018, at Wolferts Roost Country Club, Loudonville, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Regina S. LaGatta is being recognized for her extraordinary
efforts  in providing a community where students can grow and learn in a
positive and outstanding environment; and
 
  WHEREAS, Regina Scarano LaGatta,  Class  of  1977  graduate  of  the
Academy  of  Holy  Names, holds a Masters of Science degree in Education
with a teaching certification in Special Education from the  College  of
St.  Rose;  she  received her Bachelors of Science degree in Health from
SUNY Brockport and is an  alumna  of  Hudson  Valley  Community  College
(HVCC); and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  1977,  while  at the Center for Disabilities Services,
Regina S. LaGatta was asked to move from the classroom to management and
was named Assistant Vice President for Development; and
 
  WHEREAS, After serving as a member of its  board  of  directors,  in
1999,   Regina   S.  LaGatta  was  asked  to  serve  as  Executive  Vice
President/Deputy Executive Office at the Capital District YMCA; and
 
  WHEREAS, In one decade, she developed a culture of philanthropy  and
helped to establish "the YMCA as the Community's Charity of Choice"; and
 
  WHEREAS, In 2009, Regina S. LaGatta was appointed Vice President for
College  Advancement  and  Executive  Director of the Foundation at SUNY
Cobleskill; she also served as a "Shared  Services"  Vice  President  at
SUNY Delhi; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Retiring  from SUNY in 2014, Regina S. LaGatta returned to
HVCC as the Interim Executive Director of the Foundation; in  2017,  the
Office   of  Institutional  Advancement  was  established  and  she  was
appointed Chief Advancement Officer; in this role she  still  serves  as
Executive  Director  and  works  with  the  President  on both State and
Federal Government Relations  and  is  responsible  for  the  Office  of
Grants; and
 
  WHEREAS, Furthermore, Regina S. LaGatta recently led the campaign to
build a new center for advanced manufacturing; and
 
 
  WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, James, and their
two  children, Ashley and Christopher, all of whom feel privileged to be
a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
 
  WHEREAS, It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  when
individuals  of  such  noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the  citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Regina S. LaGatta upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Academy of Holy Names on November 15, 2018; and be it
further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Regina S. LaGatta.
