Senate Resolution No. 75
 
BY: Senator BRESLIN
 
        COMMENDING  Timothy  P. McCarthy upon the occasion
        of his designation for special tribute by the United
        States Postal Service at its Veterans' Day  Ceremony
        on November 9, 2018
 
  WHEREAS,  Members  of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so  valiantly  and  honorably  in  wars  in  which  this
country's  freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and  in  full  accord   its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
commend Timothy P. McCarthy upon the occasion  of  his  designation  for
special tribute by the United States Postal Service at its Veterans' Day
Ceremony  to  be  celebrated  on Friday, November 9, 2018, at the United
States Postal Service's General Mail Facility in Colonie, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Born in Albany, New York, on April  18,  1948,  Timothy  P.
McCarthy  attended St. Vincent's Institute before transferring to Albany
High School where he graduated  in  1967;  shortly  thereafter,  he  was
drafted into the United States Army; and
 
  WHEREAS,  After Timothy P. McCarthy successfully completed his Basic
Training at Fort Dix in  New  Jersey,  he  attended  Advance  Individual
Training  at  Fort  Sill  in  Oklahoma;  he  was  awarded  the  military
occupational specialty of Field Artilleryman; and
 
  WHEREAS, From February of 1968  until  March  of  1969,  Timothy  P.
McCarthy proudly served his country in the Bravo Battery, 6th Battalion,
27th  Field  Artillery  Regiment  of the 23rd Group Artillery, 2nd Field
Force in Vietnam; his unit provided  artillery  support  for  the  First
Calvary  Division  (Air  Mobile),  the 101st Airborne Division, the 11th
Armored Cavalry Division and the 3rd Marine Division; and
 
  WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military duties in 1969, Timothy
P.  McCarthy  returned  to  his  hometown  and  married   his   longtime
girlfriend,  Sharon; together, the couple raised four children, Shannon,
Seamus, Megan and  Maureen,  and  are  the  proud  grandparents  of  six
grandchildren, Emily, Nicole, Rhiannon, Joseph, Roman and Liam; and
 
  WHEREAS, A well-respected United States Air Force veteran, dedicated
public  servant  and  loving husband, father and grandfather, Timothy P.
McCarthy's exemplary military and public service merits the commendation
and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be  recognized,  commended
and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and
for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Timothy P. McCarthy upon the occasion  of  his  designation  for
 
special tribute by the United States Postal Service at its Veterans' Day
Ceremony; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Timothy P. McCarthy.
