MOURNING the death of Sarah Ronchetti, a pioneer
career woman, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of her community
WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that this
Legislative Body, representing the people of the State of New York, is
moved this day to pay tribute to an eminent woman of indomitable faith
and dedication whose public service and countless accomplishments will
forever stand as a paradigm and inspiration for others; and
WHEREAS, Sarah Ronchetti died on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at the
age of 95, due to complications related to the novel coronavirus; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Lockport, New York, Sarah Ronchetti
graduated from Lockport High School and attended the former St. Joseph's
Catholic Church for most of her life; and
WHEREAS, The oldest female child in her family, Sarah Ronchetti was
steadfastly dedicated to her family and made tremendous sacrifices while
caring for her five siblings; in later years, she was a caregiver for
her mother, Stefania Ronchetti, who died in 1976; and
WHEREAS, Sarah Ronchetti distinguished herself in her profession and
by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
her community; and
WHEREAS, This extraordinary woman, who never married, worked in
three Lockport industrial plants, Norton Laboratories, Dittmer Gear &
Manufacturing Corporation and Harrison Radiator Division of General
Motors, before taking a civil service examination and joining the
Niagara County Clerk's Office on August 1, 1966; and
WHEREAS, Sarah Ronchetti began her illustrious career as a motor
vehicle cashier and later became a senior account clerk before County
Clerk Raymond A. Beiter promoted her to deputy county clerk on May 12,
1980; and
WHEREAS, In that post, Sarah Ronchetti led the county's motor
vehicle office in Lockport, a role she held until her retirement on
October 4, 1991; and
WHEREAS, Sarah Ronchetti's commitment to excellence, and her spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Sarah Ronchetti has displayed
throughout her life; she is survived by a brother, Salvatore Ronchetti;
and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Sarah Ronchetti leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Sarah Ronchetti, and to express its deepest
condolences to her family; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Sarah Ronchetti.
