Senate Resolution No. 138

        CONGRATULATING Shea Weilbaker upon the occasion of
        capturing  the  2018  NYSPHSAA  Class  A  Boys Cross
        Country Championship on November 10, 2018
 
  WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly  sought  after
in  high  school  sports;  this  Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special  recognition  to  those  who  pursue  such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Athletic  competition  helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
 
  WHEREAS, A standout runner for  the  Saratoga  Springs  High  School
Cross  Country  Team, Shea Weilbaker earned his third state championship
at the NYSPHSAA Cross Country meet on Saturday, November  10,  2018,  at
Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Shea Weilbaker won the 5,000 meters race with an incredible
time of 15:52.0, beating his closest opponent by 10 seconds; and
 
  WHEREAS, Shea Weilbaker's overall record is outstanding; in addition
to  this  incredible feat, the talented senior won the 2018 indoor track
state title in the 3,200 meters and the outdoor  state  championship  in
the 3,200 meters; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Athletically  and  academically, Shea Weilbaker has proven
himself to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favorably
on his school; and
 
  WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of  teamwork,  pride
and  accomplishment,  and Shea Weilbaker has clearly made a contribution
to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition  of  his  school;  now,
therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Shea Weilbaker upon the  occasion  of  capturing  the  2018
NYSPHSAA  Class  A Boys Cross Country Championship on November 10, 2018;
and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Shea Weilbaker.
