Senate Resolution No. 197

        CONGRATULATING  the Shenendehowa High School Girls
        Varsity Swimming and Diving Team upon  the  occasion
        of  being  ranked  No.  1  in  New York State by the
        National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association
 
  WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly  sought  after
in  high  school  sports;  this  Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special  recognition  to  those  who  pursue  such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Athletic  competition  helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
 
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to  congratulate  the
Shenendehowa High School Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Team upon the
occasion  of  being  ranked No. 1 out of 21 schools in New York State by
the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches  Association  (NISCA)  in  the
Large School Category (950+ student body); and
 
  WHEREAS,  During the 2018 season, the Shenendehowa High School Girls
Varsity Swimming and Diving Team scored 5,386 points,  a  total  of  159
more points than the second place team; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Proudly  donning  the  school's colors of green and white,
family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported the Plainsmen throughout their journey  as  they  ended  their
season  with an impressive overall record, including winning the Section
II Division I Swimming and Diving Championship; to the praise  of  their
excited  fans,  the  Plainsmen  scored 441 points, beating out Niskayuna
High School by 34 points on Saturday, November 3, 2018; and
 
  WHEREAS, Prior to capturing the Section II Division I  Championship,
the  Shenendehowa High School Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Team won
the 9th Annual Shenendehowa Breast  Cancer  Awareness  Invitational  and
qualified 12 swimmers and divers for the NYSPHSAA Swim Meet; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  Shenendehowa  High  School Girls Varsity Team was the
recipient of the Team Scholar Athlete Award with 24 students  holding  a
GPA  of  90  or  above,  and  all  members held a GPA of 85 or above; in
addition to the team's stellar academic records,  two  seniors  and  two
sophomores broke the school record in the 400 Freestyle Relay; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  sports  such  as  swimming  and  diving, which demands
athletic prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach Sandra J.  Stanislowsky,
Dive  and  Strength Coach Dennis Hogan, Assistant Coaches Alyssa DiFabio
and Ryan Gordon, and Yoga Coach Amy Stoup worked hard to hone the skills
of this championship team, teaching these outstanding  athletes  lessons
which will prove invaluable both in and out of the pool; and
 
  WHEREAS,   Head   Coach  Sandra  J.  Stanislowsky  and  all  of  the
outstanding athletes on  the  Shenendehowa  High  School  Girls  Varsity
Swimming and Diving Team have clearly utilized dedication, determination
and  teamwork  in  providing  a  lasting  contribution  to the spirit of
excellence which is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Shenendehowa High School  Girls  Varsity
Swimming  and  Diving Team: Maia Cacchione, Mackenzie Cerny, Kelsey Chu,
Lisa Cimino, Evelyn Currier, Izabella Czajkowski, Sophia DiConza,  Norah
Eisnor,  Calista  Fasser,  Morgan  Gilbert,  Jessica  Gordon, Alice Han,
Shauna Killane, Alex Koeferl,  Jessica  Leonard,  Gabriela  Llera,  Abby
Lorch,   Amanda   Macey,  Twyla  Nastasia,  Natalie  O'Loughlin,  Lauren
Ostrander, Lydia Pacinella, Taylor Pazderski, Meghan  Rock,  Mia  Scott,
Eva  Sheffer,  Natasha  Sheffer,  Bella  Silaika,  Sophie Silaika, Riley
Simmons, Talia Spenziero, Alison Sposili, Lauren Sposili, Grace  Thomas,
Sarah  VanderVeer,  Catherine  Wang, Emily Wang, Shannon Waryncia, Norah
Wilson and Ashley Zachgo; Head Coach Sandra J.  Stanislowsky;  Dive  and
Strength  Coach  Dennis Hogan; Assistant Coaches Alyssa DiFabio and Ryan
Gordon; and Yoga Coach Amy Stoup upon the occasion of being ranked No. 1
in New York State, and winning the Section II Division  I  Swimming  and
Diving Championship; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  copies  of  this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Shenendehowa High School Girls Varsity
Swimming and Diving Team, Head Coach Sandra J.  Stanislowsky,  Dive  and
Strength  Coach  Dennis Hogan, Assistant Coaches Alyssa DiFabio and Ryan
Gordon, and Yoga Coach Amy Stoup.
