Senate Resolution No. 454
 
BY: Senator PARKER
 
        MOURNING    the   death   of   Steven   C.   Olds,
        distinguished citizen  and  devoted  member  of  his
        community
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens  of  the  State  of  New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life  in  their  communities  and  this
great Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Steven  C.  Olds  of  Brooklyn,  New York, died on Monday,
February 1, 2021, at the age of 66; and
 
  WHEREAS, Steven "Steve" C. Olds, who  was  affectionately  known  as
Papa  Duke  and Daddy 0, was born on July 3, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York,
to the late Elsie Olds and the late Clarence Evans; he  was  the  second
eldest of 12 siblings; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The Olds family moved to Queens, New York, when Steven was
six years-old where he was raised by his Mom and his stepfather,  Harris
Jackson; and
 
  WHEREAS, Young Steven attended Public School 155, Shimer Junior High
School,  and  John  Adams  High  School;  as  a  child, he loved to play
basketball and received many trophies for his sportsmanship; and
 
  WHEREAS, Steven C. Olds also loved to build things and hang out with
friends; always looking sharp, he had an affinity for  Kangol  hats  and
tailor-made clothes; and
 
  WHEREAS, A dedicated, hard worker since he was young, Steven C. Olds
was employed at Domino's Sugar Company for many years before it went out
of  business  in  2004;  shortly  after,  he became a bus driver helping
mentally disabled children;  his  career  ended  at  Glaxo  Smith  Kline
Pharmaceuticals; and
 
  WHEREAS,   During  his  lifetime  Steven  C.  Olds  formed  lifelong
friendships with his childhood friends; he married  Lorraine  Jones  and
together  they had two daughters and one son; he later met Natalie Brown
who was his beloved life-long partner and they had three daughters; and
 
  WHEREAS, Steven C. Olds was always willing to do whatever  he  could
to  help  others;  well  respected by all who knew him, he will truly be
missed by so many; and
 
  WHEREAS, Predeceased by  are  his  mother,  Elsie  Olds  Stark;  his
father,  Clarence Evans; daughter, Shandra Olds; sisters, Sandra Wilson,
Christine Olds and Lisa Barron;  and  his  son-in-law,  Michael  Bryant,
Steven  C.  Olds  is  survived by four sisters, Maria Olds, April Fryson
(Ed), Sherrilyn Pascal and Robin Jarvis; six brothers, Frederick  Conrad
Olds,   Anthony  Olds  (Fayne),  Jolus  Jackson  (Pat),  Tyrone  Jackson
(Ximena), St. Clair Jackson (Regina),  and  Keith  Jackson;  one  uncle,
Forrest  Eddie  Olds  (Maryann);  four  daughters;  Taysha  Olds  Wilcox
(Brian),  Ebony  Olds  (Michael),  Ticia  (Devon)  and  Tancia   Rogers;
 
niece/daughter,  Franchon Jackson; one son, Steven Olds (Nikki); and six
grandchildren, Shannon, Amaya, Aaron, Michael, Mason and Avery; as  well
as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Armed  with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Steven C. Olds leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting  memory  to  all  he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn  the  death  of  Steven  C.  Olds,  and  to  express  its  deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Steven C. Olds.
