COMMENDING the Nassau County Police Benevolent
Association upon the occasion of hosting its Annual
Top Cops Awards Dinner and paying tribute to the
2022 honorees on April 26, 2023
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association upon the
occasion of hosting its Annual Top Cops Awards Dinner and to pay tribute
to the 2022 honorees on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Mulcahy's Pub and
Concert Hall in Wantagh, New York; and
WHEREAS, This year's honorees are: Overall Top Cops, Police Officer
Oliver Balena and Police Officer Jonathan Sarro; Distinguished Service,
Police Officer Robert Psomas, Police Officer Michael Sierzant and
Lieutenant Daniel Delargy; Meritorious, Police Officer Chelsea Penn;
Lifesaver, Police Officer Brandon Inman and Police Officer Mark
Valentino; Perseverance Award, Police Officer Wayne Resnick; Top
Detectives, Detective Ryan Hayden and Detective Chris Ingram; Top
Supervisor, Sergeant Jimmy Lee; and Person of the Year, Robert Griggs
III; and
WHEREAS, Formed on July 18, 1928, the Nassau County Police
Benevolent Association (PBA) has remained true to its mission of
providing support to its police officers and the important public safety
role they play, and strives to pass on the department's most important
traditions to future generations of police officers, especially respect
and honor for their sisters and brothers who have made the ultimate
sacrifice; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Nassau County PBA is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its President, Tommy Shevlin, and its
members, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the institution and
the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association upon the
occasion of hosting its Annual Top Cops Awards Dinner and to pay tribute
to the 2022 honorees on April 26, 2023; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the aforementioned honorees and to Tommy Shevlin,
President, Nassau County Police Benevolent Association.
