Senate Resolution No. 599

        CONGRATULATING  Mary Zeppieri upon the occasion of
        celebrating her 100th Birthday
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative  Body  to  commemorate
and  recognize  certain  milestones celebrated by citizens of this great
Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and  knowledge
to  the  increasingly  active  roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a  vital  part  of,  and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
congratulate  Mary  Zeppieri  upon  the  occasion  of her 100th Birthday
celebrated with a party in her honor  on  Sunday,  March  18,  2023,  at
Dibble's Restaurant in Vernon, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Mary Zeppieri was born on March 18, 1923, in Veroli, Italy,
to a family of 10 children; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Mary  Zeppieri  married her life partner, Alfred Zeppieri,
and they had five remarkable children; and
 
  WHEREAS, While also raising her children, Mary  Zeppieri  worked  at
the  Master  Craft  Plant  during  World  War  II;  in  later years, she
volunteered for 21 years for the Foster Grandparents Program and retired
at the age of 91; and
 
  WHEREAS, A cherished member of her community, former  Oneida  Mayor,
Army  Carinci,  presented Mary Zeppieri with a Citizen Achievement Award
in recognition of outstanding charitable  work;  she  has  also  been  a
devoted and long-time member of Saint Joseph's Church; and
 
  WHEREAS,  A  vibrant  individual  who  remains so full of life, Mary
Zeppieri resided at Oneida Towers and now is  currently  at  the  Oneida
Healthcare Center's Extended Care Facility; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Mary  Zeppieri,  with  her zest for life, has inspired and
enhanced the lives of her family and friends; and
 
  WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her five children, Edda Hall,
Robert Zeppieri, Phyllis Zeppieri, Silvio Zeppieri, and  Carl  Zeppieri,
all  of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her
many achievements; and
 
  WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian has experienced the incredible
joys and sorrows characteristic of  and  reserved  for  those  with  the
stamina and courage to savor a full life; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Mary  Zeppieri  has enriched the lives of those around her
through her joyous and sincere love for others and through the  profound
charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and
 
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  intent  of  this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those who have reached such a  remarkable  age  and  who  have
witnessed  and  celebrated  the  innovations,  cultural developments and
awesome achievements of this country  during  the  last  century,  while
themselves  contributing  to  the  growth  and  excellence of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
congratulate  Mary  Zeppieri  upon the occasion of celebrating her 100th
Birthday; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Mary Zeppieri.
