Senate Resolution No. 623

        HONORING  Dr.  William Borgos upon the occasion of
        his designation as recipient of the  2023  Community
        Health  Care  Association of New York State Dr. Jack
        Geiger Award
 
  WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
commend and recognize those esteemed individuals and institutions within
the  medical   community   for   their   extraordinary   and   sustained
contributions  to  the progress of medicine and the improvement of life;
and
 
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dr.  William Borgos upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2023 Community Health Care Association of New York  State  (CHCANYS)
Dr.      Jack  Geiger  Award,  celebrated  during  a  statewide  virtual
presentation of  the  award  from  Chief  Executive  Officer  of  Hudson
Headwaters, Dr. Tucker Slingerland; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Dr.  William  Borgos is receiving this auspicious award in
recognition of his reflection of  the  legacy  of  Dr.  Jack  Geiger,  a
physician  and civil rights activist who led the community health center
model in the United States; and
 
  WHEREAS, Having grown up in Queensbury, New York, Dr. William Borgos
holds a unique  connection  with  the  community  and  is  committed  to
providing the best patient care; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Providing  care  to Hudson Headwaters patients since 2003,
Dr.  William Borgos became the Chief Medical  Officer  just  before  the
COVID-19  pandemic,  and  courageously  took  on the role of leading the
local emergency response; Dr. Borgos worked closely with  public  health
officials  and medical directors across the Capital Region, Adirondacks,
and North Country; and
 
  WHEREAS, Dr. William  Borgos  helped  to  secure  federally-supplied
monoclonal  antibodies  to  treat  the  seriously  ill and guided Hudson
Headwaters' COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts; during the time of
the national and global crisis, Dr. Borgos was an integral part  of  the
leadership team guiding the development of the network's team-based care
initiatives,  the  introduction  of telehealth options for patients, and
oversight of the network's quality program; and
 
  WHEREAS, A selfless leader, Dr. William Borgos is a valued member of
the North Country and the  CHCANYS  community;  he  shares  his  devoted
energy, wisdom, and skills with his peers and those he serves; and
 
  WHEREAS,  As  a  leader  in  his  profession, Dr. William Borgos has
proven himself to be a great asset to medicine and  to  the  health  and
welfare of the citizens of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. William  Borgos  upon  the  occasion  of  his  designation  as
 
recipient  of  the  2023  Community  Health Care Association of New York
State Dr. Jack Geiger Award; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. William Borgos.
