MOURNING the death of Irwin W. Schriro,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Irwin W. Schriro of Somers, New York, died on Sunday, March
5, 2023, at the age of 63; and
WHEREAS, Irwin W. Schriro distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, Born in Mt. Kisco, New York, on April 27, 1959, the son of
Lew and Rose Schriro, Irwin W. Schriro graduated from Fox Lane High
School and began his career in the alarm and security business; he was
the lead inventory and service coordinator at Scarsdale Security Systems
in Scarsdale, New York; and
WHEREAS, His volunteer fire service journey began with the Bedford
Hills Volunteer Fire Department until he and his wife moved to Somers;
there he joined the Somers Volunteer Fire Department where he is a life
member, and once held the esteemed positions of Chief and Commissioner;
and
WHEREAS, Irwin W. Schriro was also a member of the Putnam Northern
Westchester Fire Police Association and Red Knights Motorcycle Club NY
Chapter VII, with whom he enjoyed many memorial rides and trips to visit
the retired members residing at the Fireman's Home in Hudson, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing,
bowling in leagues with his wife and friends, attending his wife and
children's many sports events, and the company of his many animal
companions; and
WHEREAS, Irwin W. Schriro's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Irwin W. Schriro is survived by his wife, Suzanne;
daughter, Stacey; son, Craig; sister, Debra, and three grandchildren,
Anabelle, Mason, and Brendon; he is predeceased by his sister, Bonnie;
and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Irwin W. Schriro leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Irwin W. Schriro, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Irwin W. Schriro.
