Senate Resolution No. 937

        CONGRATULATING  Detective  Donald Bartels upon the
        occasion  of  his  retirement  after  32  years   of
        distinguished  service  to  the Nassau County Police
        Department
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize  and
honor  those  distinguished  officers  and  citizens  who  would  devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and  diligence
in  providing  for  the  care  and  welfare  of  the  citizens  of their
communities and this great Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York  there  are
certain  individuals  who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command  the  respect  and  admiration  of  their  community  for  their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud to congratulate
Detective Donald Bartels upon the occasion of his  retirement  after  32
years  of  distinguished service to the Nassau County Police Department,
to  be  recognized  at  the  Robbery  Squad  Retirement  Celebration  on
Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the Coral House, Baldwin, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Donald Bartels began his illustrious career with the Nassau
County Police Department as a police officer on October 23, 1987; and
 
  WHEREAS,   For  his  steadfast  and  unwavering  commitment  to  the
department, Donald Bartels was promoted to Detective on June  20,  1997;
he officially retired from this esteemed position on March 1, 2018; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Throughout  his  tenure  with  the  Nassau  County  Police
Department, Detective Donald Bartels was truly an  invaluable  asset  to
its  3rd  Precinct,  2nd  Squad  and  Robbery  Squad;  in  addition,  he
temporarily served the Juvenile Aid Bureau; and
 
  WHEREAS, A resident of East Northport, New  York,  Detective  Donald
Bartels  has  been the proud recipient of numerous awards and accolades,
including Medal of Commendation, Meritorious, Excellent Police Duty  and
Command Recognition; and
 
  WHEREAS,  For  more  than  three  decades,  Detective Donald Bartels
rendered faithful, conscientious and  valuable  service  to  the  Nassau
County  Police  Department,  earning  him  the  admiration,  esteem  and
affection of his colleagues; and
 
  WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Kathleen, and their
two daughters, Shannon and Kathleen, who have all  shown  him  love  and
support and rejoice in his many achievements; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly  devote  their  lives  to  the
preservation  of  order  and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
 
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate  Detective  Donald  Bartels  upon  the  occasion   of   his
retirement  after 32 years of distinguished service to the Nassau County
Police Department; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Detective Donald Bartels.
