Senate Resolution No. 938

        CONGRATULATING  Detective  William Butler upon the
        occasion  of  his  retirement  after  32  years   of
        distinguished  service  to  the Nassau County Police
        Department
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize  and
honor  those  distinguished  officers  and  citizens  who  would  devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and  diligence
in  providing  for  the  care  and  welfare  of  the  citizens  of their
communities and this great Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York  there  are
certain  individuals  who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command  the  respect  and  admiration  of  their  community  for  their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud to congratulate
Detective William Butler upon the occasion of his  retirement  after  32
years  of  distinguished service to the Nassau County Police Department,
to  be  recognized  at  the  Robbery  Squad  Retirement  Celebration  on
Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the Coral House, Baldwin, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, William Butler began his illustrious career with the Nassau
County Police Department as a police officer on July 18, 1986; and
 
  WHEREAS,   For  his  steadfast  and  unwavering  commitment  to  the
department, William Butler was promoted to Detective on April 16,  1993;
he  officially  retired  from this esteemed position on August 30, 2018;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Throughout  his  tenure  with  the  Nassau  County  Police
Department,  Detective  William  Butler was truly an invaluable asset to
its 4th Precinct, 4th Squad and Robbery Squad; and
 
  WHEREAS, In addition, he was temporarily assigned to  the  Narcotics
Bureau,  Narcotics  Enforcement  Team,  Homicide  Squad,  Crimes Against
Property Squad and 3rd Squad; and
 
  WHEREAS, A resident of Elmont, New York,  Detective  William  Butler
has been the proud recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including
Detective of the Month and Meritorious recognition; and
 
  WHEREAS,  For  more  than  three  decades,  Detective William Butler
rendered faithful, conscientious and  valuable  service  to  the  Nassau
County  Police  Department,  earning  him  the  admiration,  esteem  and
affection of his colleagues; and
 
  WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his three children,  William,
Brandin  and Jordan, who have all shown him love and support and rejoice
in his many achievements; and
 
  WHEREAS, It is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  those
dedicated  public  servants  who  unselfishly  devote their lives to the
 
preservation of order and the protection of others are  worthy  and  due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate  Detective  William  Butler  upon  the  occasion   of   his
retirement  after 32 years of distinguished service to the Nassau County
Police Department; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Detective William Butler.
