Senate Resolution No. 1022

        MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
        April 25, 2019, as Take Our Children to Work Day, in
        conjunction  with  the  observance  of National Take
        Your Daughters and Sons To Work Day
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of  this  Legislative  Body  to  recognize
official  days  that  are set aside to increase awareness of educational
programs designed to teach our children  the  importance  of  making  an
honest  living,  the value of hard work, and the development of a strong
work ethic; and
 
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim April 25, 2019, as Take
Our Children to Work Day, in conjunction with the observance of National
Take Your Daughters and Sons To Work Day; and
 
  WHEREAS, National Take  Our  Daughters  and  Sons  to  Work  Day  is
recognized  on the fourth Thursday in April each year; this annual event
is an educational program in the United States and Canada where  parents
take their children to work with them for one day; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  successor  to  Take Our Daughters to Work Day
which, in 2003, was expanded to include  boys;  most  companies  allowed
both girls and boys to participate since the beginning, renaming the day
Take Our Children to Work Day; and
 
  WHEREAS,  National  Take  Your  Daughters  and  Sons to Work Day was
founded by Gloria Steinem and the  MS  Foundation  for  Women  in  1993;
employers  are encouraged to invite employees to bring their children to
work; and
 
  WHEREAS, For 26 years, the Take  Our  Daughters  And  Sons  To  Work
program has been "leading the way" inspiring our young to dream big; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Inspiring  them to dream of themselves in boardrooms, city
halls, union halls and concert halls;and
 
  WHEREAS, Inspiring them to believe in themselves  as  much  as  they
believe in their superheroes; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Inspiring  them  to  envision a future for themselves in a
workplace where everyone is welcomed; and
 
  WHEREAS, The theme of the 2019 Take Your Daughters and Sons to  Work
Day is "Workforce Development For All; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Being  a  part  of a workforce team means you are there to
support both internal and external customers; by doing the best you can,
you help make the workplace more successful; and
 
  WHEREAS, In addition, by taking advantage of the opportunities  that
come your way, you will be ensuring a brighter future for everyone; and
 
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body that those
educational programs aimed to enhance the well-being and vitality of the
youth of our communities  certainly  have  earned  the  recognition  and
applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore,
be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim April 25, 2019, as Take
Our Children to Work Day, in conjunction with the observance of National
Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted  to  The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
