Senate Resolution No. 1106

        HONORING  Brad  Goodman upon the occasion of being
        inducted into the International Boxing Hall of  Fame
        on June 10-11, 2023
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding professionals  in  the  boxing  industry  who  distinguished
themselves    through    their    exceptional   performance,   attaining
unprecedented success and the highest  level  of  personal  achievement;
Brad  Goodman  is  one  such  individual  and  his  life of achievements
inspired others and contributed to the respect  and  admiration  of  the
sport of boxing; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Brad Goodman upon the occasion of being inducted into the  International
Boxing  Hall  of  Fame  at  Hall  of Fame Weekend on June 10-11, 2023 in
Canastota, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Having worked in the boxing industry for four decades, Brad
Goodman began as a summer employee in Top Rank's New York  City  offices
in  1983;  he  started  by  assisting three Top Rank employees who would
eventually be inducted into  the  International  Boxing  Hall  of  Fame,
including  publicist Irving Rudd and matchmakers Teddy Brenner and Bruce
Trampler; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Eventually  moving  to  Las  Vegas,  Brad  Goodman  gained
recognition  for  his  evenly  matched  and  fan-friendly  fights at the
Orleans Hotel; then,  in  2004,  he  joined  Top  Rank  as  a  full-time
matchmaker  and  has  developed  dozens of fighters from novice to world
champion, including Mike Alvarado, Brandon Rios,  Mikey  Garcia,  Steven
Luevano,  Kelly  Pavlik,  Juan  Manuel  Lopez,  Terence  Crawford,  Jose
Ramirez,  Oscar  Valdez,  Teofimo  Lopez,  Mikaela  Mayer,  and   Shakur
Stevenson; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Brad  Goodman clearly made a contribution to the spirit of
excellence which is a tradition of  the  International  Boxing  Hall  of
Fame; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that when
individuals of such  outstanding  accomplishments  are  brought  to  our
attention,  they  should be recognized by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  Brad  Goodman  upon  the  occasion  of  being  inducted  into the
International Boxing Hall of Fame on June 10-11, 2023; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Brad Goodman.
