Senate Resolution No. 1112

        HONORING  Carl  Martin  Froch upon the occasion of
        being inducted into the International Boxing Hall of
        Fame on June 10-11, 2023
 
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this  Legislative  Body  to  acknowledge
outstanding   athletes   who   distinguished  themselves  through  their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; Carl Martin Froch is one such athlete and
his life of athletic achievements inspired others and contributed to the
respect and admiration of the sport of boxing; and
 
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Carl  Martin  Froch  upon  the  occasion  of  being  inducted  into  the
International Boxing Hall of Fame at Hall of Fame Weekend on June 10-11,
2023 in Canastota, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Born on July 2, 1977, Carl Martin Froch is a British former
professional boxer who competed from 2002 to 2014, and has since  worked
as a boxing analyst and commentator; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Having  held  many  prestigious  titles, Carl Martin Froch
earned multiple super-middleweight world  championships,  including  the
WBC  title  twice between 2008 to 2011, the IBF title from 2012 to 2015,
and the WBA (Unified) title from 2013 to 2015; and
 
  WHEREAS, At regional level, Carl Martin Froch held the  British  and
Commonwealth super-middleweight titles between 2004 to 2008, and won the
Lonsdale Belt in 2006; and
 
  WHEREAS,  As  an  amateur, in the middleweight division, Carl Martin
Froch won a bronze medal at the 2001 World Championships,  and  the  ABA
title twice; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Ranked  by BoxRec as the third greatest British fighter of
all time, pound for pound, Carl Martin Froch was voted  Fighter  of  the
Year for 2012 by BoxRec and Sportsman of the Year for 2013 by the United
Kingdom  edition  of  GQ  magazine;  he  reached  a peak pound for pound
ranking of sixth by BoxRec and The Ring magazine, and in 2013 was listed
by the BBC as the best active British boxer; and
 
  WHEREAS, Carl Martin Froch clearly made a contribution to the spirit
of excellence which is a tradition of the International Boxing  Hall  of
Fame; and
 
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that when
individuals of such outstanding athletic accomplishments are brought  to
our  attention,  they  should  be recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  Carl  Martin  Froch  upon the occasion of being inducted into the
International Boxing Hall of Fame on June 10-11, 2023; and be it further
 
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Carl Martin Froch.
