COMMEMORATING the 75th Anniversary of the Yates
County Chamber of Commerce on June 1, 2023
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across the great
State of New York is reflective of certain exemplary organizations whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Yates County Chamber of Commerce
on Thursday, June 1, 2023, to be celebrated at the Chamber's Annual
Awards Dinner; and
WHEREAS, Since its founding 75 years ago, the Yates County Chamber
of Commerce has spoken to the needs of the business community,
creatively promoting and advocating for business in the community; and
WHEREAS, With humble beginnings, the Penn Yan Chamber of Commerce
merged with the Dundee Chamber of Commerce in the late 1990s to become
the Yates County Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, After the merger, a Welcome Center was built to act as an
Information Center for visitors; the Chamber works in partnership with
Yates County as its Tourism Promotion Agency (TPA), as the Chamber
strategically develops and implements a tourism marketing program on
behalf of county government to increase visitation; and
WHEREAS, The Welcome Center is one of the many services that the
Yates County Chamber of Commerce provides; an active events committee
works year-round to provide exciting community events and improve the
quality of life for the county's residents; and
WHEREAS, The Yates County Chamber of Commerce enjoys a relationship
with the Keuka Wine Trail (KWT) as its administrative team; the Chamber
assists in the production of collateral materials, management of the
website, and coordination for ticket sales to KWT events; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Yates County Chamber of Commerce is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its dedicated Board of Directors,
staff, and volunteers, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, Steeped in a proud and distinguished history, the Yates
County Chamber of Commerce may take just pride in its purposeful growth,
as it looks forward to continuing to serve the business, cultural, and
intellectual needs of the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Yates County Chamber of Commerce
on June 1, 2023; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Yates County Chamber of Commerce.
