HONORING Jacqueline Nelson upon the occasion of
her retirement after 36 years of distinguished
service to the Office for People With Developmental
Disabilities Central New York Developmental
Disabilities Service Office
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jacqueline Nelson upon the occasion of her retirement after 36 years of
distinguished service to the Office for People With Developmental
Disabilities Central New York Developmental Disabilities Service Office
(OPWDD CNY DDSO); she officially retired on January 25, 2021; and
WHEREAS, To celebrate this extraordinary professional, a retirement
party will be held in her honor on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the
Delta Lake Inn, in Rome, New York; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as a Developmental Assistant III,
Jacqueline Nelson served with loyalty, honor and distinction, rendering
faithful, conscientious and valuable service to OPWDD CNY DDSO; during
her tenure, she earned the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Jacqueline Nelson was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and
WHEREAS, An active member of her community, Jacqueline Nelson has
served as President of the Rome Branch NAACP since 2015; in the past,
she has also been part of many of the committees in the branch including
Chairing both the Legal Redress Committee and the Educational Committee;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, Jacqueline Nelson is a vital part of the New
York State's COVID-19 Equity Task Force, which ensures that all people
have equal access to the vaccine; she is also a member of the Oneida
County Police Reform Committee; and
WHEREAS, In her free time, Jacqueline Nelson is a master quilter, a
favorite pastime she has been perfecting since 2012; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jacqueline Nelson upon the occasion of her retirement after 36
years of distinguished service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jacqueline Nelson.
