Senate Resolution No. 1281

        CONGRATULATING   Josephine   Pantaleo   upon   the
        occasion of celebrating her 100th Birthday
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative  Body  to  commemorate
and  recognize  certain  milestones celebrated by citizens of this great
Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and  knowledge
to  the  increasingly  active  roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a  vital  part  of,  and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
congratulate  Josephine  Pantaleo  upon  the occasion of celebrating her
100th Birthday; and
 
  WHEREAS, Born on June  18,  1921,  in  Utica,  New  York,  Josephine
Pantaleo  attended Brandegee Public School before graduating from Thomas
R.  Proctor High School in 1940; and
 
  WHEREAS, Josephine and Vito Pantaleo  were  united  in  marriage  on
October 26, 1946, and together they raised two children; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Josephine  Pantaleo  worked at Oneita Knitting Mills, G.E.
Air and Space, the Boston Department Store for  ten  years,  and  Duxbak
Corporation for ten years; and
 
  WHEREAS,  With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her heritage
and her community, Josephine Pantaleo was a member  of  several  Italian
Societies in East Utica; she is a member of St. Cosmas and Damian Chapel
and  spent  many years volunteering her time and energies sewing clothes
for those in need; and
 
  WHEREAS, In her free time, Josephine Pantaleo  loved  traveling  and
making  cookies  to  give  away; she also loved arts and crafts, playing
cards with her family and friends, as well as making clothes and stuffed
rabbits for her grandchildren; and
 
  WHEREAS, Josephine Pantaleo currently resides at  St.  Luke's  Rehab
and Nursing Center and is a member of Mount Carmel Church; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  addition  to  being  the  proud mother of Roseleen and
Colette (Daniel), Josephine Pantaleo is the loving  grandmother  of  two
grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) and Jessica, and a great-grandson, Jacob;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Josephine  Pantaleo,  with her zest for life, has inspired
and enhanced the lives of her family and friends; and
 
  WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian has experienced the incredible
joys and sorrows characteristic of  and  reserved  for  those  with  the
stamina and courage to savor a full life; and
 
 
  WHEREAS,  Josephine  Pantaleo has enriched the lives of those around
her through her joyous and sincere  love  for  others  and  through  the
quiescent  charm  and  wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years;
and
 
  WHEREAS, It is the intent  of  this  Legislative  Body  to  publicly
recognize  those  who  have  reached  such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated  the  innovations,  cultural  developments  and
awesome  achievements  of  this  country  during the last century, while
themselves contributing to the  growth  and  excellence  of  this  great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Josephine Pantaleo upon the  occasion  of  celebrating  her
100th Birthday; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Josephine Pantaleo.
