HONORING Arlene Moore-Bolster-Green upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the New York State Office for the Aging on May
21, 2019
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Arlene
Moore-Bolster-Green upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the New York State Office for the Aging at its Annual
Older New Yorker's Day Celebration on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the Hart
Theatre Lounge in The Egg, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Each May, the New York State Office for the Aging pauses to
acknowledge the outstanding contributions made by older citizens during
National Older Americans Month; and
WHEREAS, Members of older generations have helped build and shape
our Nation to be the greatest in the world; they have defended our
freedoms and values to ensure that those who come after them may have
better lives; nowhere in the Nation is the legacy of their efforts more
visible and more a part of the lives of all citizens than here in the
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Fort Ann, New York, Arlene
Moore-Bolster-Green grew up an only child regularly attending community
meetings with her mother, who she credits for her steadfast commitment
to volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, As President of the Old Stone House Library committee,
Arlene Moore-Bolster-Green works tirelessly to organize programs for
both children and adults; in addition, she was instrumental in getting
the library placed on the State and National Registry of Historic
Places; and
WHEREAS, Arlene Moore-Bolster-Green is a 66-year charter member of
the Court Mater Mariae, Catholic Daughters of America, where she was the
Regent and currently serves as Treasurer; she is also on the Finance
Committee of St. Anne's Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS, A founding member of the Fort Ann Historical Society,
Arlene Moore-Bolster-Green now serves as its President; and
WHEREAS, In 2007, after six years of research, writing and
collecting pictures, Arlene Moore-Bolster-Green was a vital component to
the completion and publishing of the book, Fort Ann: 300 Years ofHistory; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this extraordinary woman has given of her time
and energies to Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Fort Ann Cemetery
Association, Fort Ann Central School Alumni Association, Fort Ann Town
Recreation Committee, Fort Ann Canal Beautification Committee, and
Laureate Alpha Mu of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from Plattsburgh State Teachers College,
Arlene Moore-Bolster-Green went on to have an illustrious 34-year career
in education; after retiring in 1992, she served as a Real Estate Agent
for several years; and
WHEREAS, Today, when she is not volunteering, Arlene
Moore-Bolster-Green enjoys being with her family, flower gardens,
traveling, playing golf, and spending the winter months in Myrtle Beach,
South Carolina; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Arlene Moore-Bolster-Green
has displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, Arlene Moore-Bolster-Green, a very active and industrious
woman, has inspired and enriched the lives of those she serves through
her volunteerism, generously sharing the wisdom gained over years of
experiencing life to its fullest; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Arlene Moore-Bolster-Green upon the occasion of her designation
for special recognition by the New York State Office for the Aging on
May 21, 2019; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Arlene Moore-Bolster-Green.
