COMMENDING outgoing board member Karen Kesnig upon
the occasion of her retirement after 22 years of
distinguished service to the Eastport-South Manor
Board of Education
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend outgoing board member Karen Kesnig upon the occasion of her
retirement after 22 years of distinguished service to the Eastport-South
Manor Board of Education to be celebrated Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at
the Eastport-South Manor High School, Manorville, New York; and
WHEREAS, For over two decades, Karen Kesnig rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Eastport-South Manor
Community, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Karen Kesnig was first elected in 1997 and was immediately
appointed President of the Eastport Elementary School Board, a position
she held for three years; she continued as a trustee of Eastport
Elementary, as well as the Eastport-South Manor Central High School
District, which was created in February, 1998; and
WHEREAS, When the Eastport-South Manor Central School District was
formed in 2004, Karen Kesnig was elected as an original member; over the
next 15 years, she held various esteemed positions; such as Vice
President, President, and Trustee in the district; and
WHEREAS, Karen Kesnig always made the students at Eastport-South
Manor Central School District her number one priority; and
WHEREAS, Her tireless dedication and foresight brought
Eastport-South Manor Central School District through a successful
merger, the building of a new junior-senior high school, a new
elementary school, and the creation of the central school district; and
WHEREAS, The academic offerings are both thorough and rigorous,
giving all students the opportunity to succeed; the music and theatre
departments are one of the most comprehensive in the area and the
student athletic teams are some of the best in the county and State; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as a Board member, Karen Kesnig served with
loyalty, honor and distinction, was governed by a keen sense of duty,
and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in her official acts;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment, certainly have earned the recognition and applause
of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend outgoing board member Karen Kesnig upon the occasion of her
retirement after 22 years of distinguished service to Eastport-South
Manor Board of Education, and to wish her continued success in all her
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Karen Kesnig.
