Senate Resolution No. 1573
 
BY: Senator BRESLIN
 
        HONORING  Eliza  Zehnder  upon the occasion of her
        designation as recipient of the Teenager of the Year
        Award by the Colonie Elks Lodge on May 23, 2019
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, commending the youth  of  today,  and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to honor Eliza
Zehnder upon the  occasion  of  her  designation  as  recipient  of  the
Teenager of the Year Award by the Colonie Elks Lodge to be celebrated at
an event on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at the Colonie Town Hall; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Eliza  Zehnder  was  selected for this auspicious award in
recognition of her strong  academic  performance,  her  service  to  her
school, and her commitment to the community; and
 
  WHEREAS,  A  senior at Colonie Central High School, Eliza Zehnder is
ranked 4th in her graduating class; she  has  maintained  an  impressive
98.171 average while pursuing one of the school's most rigorous academic
programs which includes numerous advanced placement classes, and courses
at local colleges; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Throughout  her  illustrious  high  school  career,  Eliza
Zehnder has served as Vice President of the Executive Club,  and  was  a
talented  participant  of  the  soccer,  lacrosse,  indoor/outdoor track
teams, and the travel/club soccer team; and
 
  WHEREAS, Eliza Zehnder is  also  a  member  of  the  National  Honor
Society, and was named both a Raider Scholar and a Scholar Athlete; and
 
  WHEREAS,  After  graduating, Eliza Zehnder plans to major in biology
at college, followed by medical school; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Eliza  Zehnder  is  an  active  part  of  her   community,
volunteering  her  time  and energies to the Food Bank of North East New
York; during her junior year, this compassionate  young  woman  was  the
recipient  of  the Community Service Award by the School Systems Federal
Credit Union; and
 
  WHEREAS, When she is not at school or helping someone, Eliza Zehnder
works at O'Tooles Restaurant and Pub  and  enjoys  playing  the  violin,
weightlifting, and hiking the 46 Peaks of New York State; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  achieving this high honor, Eliza Zehnder may take just
pride in the inspiration and contribution to the  spirit  of  excellence
she brings to her family, friends, community and school; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Eliza  Zehnder's sense of civic duty and her commitment to
others represents  the  best  development  of  the  potential  which  is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Eliza Zehnder upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Teenager of the Year Award by the Colonie  Elks  Lodge  on  May  23,
2019; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Eliza Zehnder.
