Assembly Resolution No. 890

        MOURNING  the death of Ann Gallelli, distinguished
        citizen, public servant, and devoted member  of  her
        community
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens  of  the  State  of  New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life  in  their  communities  and  this
great Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Ann Gallelli of Croton, New York, died on Sunday, February
11, 2024, at the age of 81; and
 
  WHEREAS, A graduate of Stanford University  in  1964,  Ann  Gallelli
distinguished  herself  in  her profession and by her sincere dedication
and substantial contribution to the welfare of her community; and
 
  WHEREAS, Serving as  deputy  mayor  for  10  fulfilling  years,  Ann
Gallelli  oversaw  many  projects  in the community, including the Local
Waterfront Revitalization Plan that  stopped  the  Millennium  Pipeline;
acquisition  of  the  property for Croton Landing and its transformation
into  a  spectacular  park;  the  guidelines  for   improving   Croton's
commercial  gateways,  including  the recent Harmon rezoning that allows
mixed use  and  promotes  economic  development;  and  securing  federal
funding for Croton Point Avenue improvements to upgrade the busiest road
in the village; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Ann  Gallelli had unparalleled knowledge and understanding
of the Village of Croton, acquired through 21 years as village  trustee,
15  years  as  chair  of  the  Planning Board, six years as chair of the
Comprehensive Plan Committee, and  liaison  to  the  Zoning  Board,  and
Croton Seniors, among other committees; and
 
  WHEREAS,  As a Trustee, she brought together interested residents to
form the Harmon Economic Development Committee,  arranged  for  them  to
bring  their  recommendation  to  the  village board, and ultimately see
their  recommendations  be  approved,  truly  making  lasting,  positive
impacts on the community; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Ann  Gallelli  joined  the  Westchester Municipal Planning
Federation (WMPF) Board in 2003 and served  10  years  until  2013;  she
served  a  two-year  term  as president of the board from 2008-2010; she
received the coveted President's Award from WMPF in 2013; and
 
  WHEREAS,  A  supporter  of  numerous  philanthropic  and   community
initiatives,  Ann  Gallelli  served  on  the  Board of the Croton-Harmon
Education Foundation; she was also recently  awarded  an  honorary  life
membership by the Croton EMS; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Ann Gallelli's commitment to excellence, and her spirit of
humanity,  carried  over  into  all  fields  of  enterprise,   including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
 
  WHEREAS, She is survived by her beloved husband, John, and cherished
children, John Jr. and Carla; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Armed  with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Ann Gallelli leaves behind a legacy which will  long  endure
the  passage  of  time and will remain as a comforting memory to all she
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
mourn  the death of Ann Gallelli, distinguished citizen, public servant,
and devoted member of her community; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the family of Ann Gallelli.
