COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of Zonta Club
of Glens Falls
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Zonta Club of Glens Falls to be
celebrated at its Cocktail Dinner Reception at the Hiland Country Club
on Friday, March 22, 2024; and
WHEREAS, In 1924, Zonta Club of Glens Falls was founded with the
mission to serve local communities by improving the lives of women and
girls in the Glens Falls area; those individuals who support this
mission understand that communities are stronger and healthier when
equal opportunities for education, healthcare, and domestic safety
exist; and
WHEREAS, Through scholarships, grant programs, and projects, Zonta
Club of Glens Falls contributed more than $25,000 in grants and
scholarships in 2023; these funds subsidize local projects to empower
women and girls in the community to reach their full potential; and
WHEREAS, Additionally, Zonta Club of Glens Falls sponsored five
annual fundraisers in 2023 and donated $7,500 to Zonta International to
support global service projects; and
WHEREAS, Zonta International, established in 1919, is a leading
global organization with the objective of building a better world for
women and girls where women's rights are recognized; in this world,
women are enabled to achieve their full potential, obtaining access to
all resources; and
WHEREAS, There are numerous services and organizations which Zonta
Club of Glens Falls supports: academic scholarships, Catholic Charities
Domestic Violence Program, Glens Falls Hospital Cardiac Care
Rehabilitation, Glens Falls Hospital Uniquely You Boutique, Family
Services of Glens Falls, Veterans & Community Housing Coalition-Guardian
House, Wiawaka Center for Women, Girls Scouts of Northeastern New York
(NENY), and Girls on the Run; and
WHEREAS, The success of Zonta Club of Glens Falls is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its 40 members, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Zonta Club of Glens Falls and to
honor its members, past and present, who have labored so conscientiously
to secure and improve the quality of life for the citizens of the
community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Zonta Club of Glens Falls.
