Senate Resolution No. 1893

        CONGRATULATING  Chase Nevills upon the occasion of
        capturing the 124-pound Division II wrestling  title
        at  the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships on February
        24, 2024
 
  WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly  sought  after
in  high  school  sports;  this  Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special  recognition  to  those  who  pursue  such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Athletic  competition  helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
 
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Chase
Nevills upon  the  occasion  of  capturing  the  124-pound  Division  II
wrestling  title  at  the  NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships on Saturday,
February 24, 2024, at the MVP Arena in Albany, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, A standout wrestler for the Copenhagen Senior  High  School
Team,  Chase Nevills is a two-time state championship winner, having won
last year in the 118-pound class; and
 
  WHEREAS, In front of a capacity crowd and  a  fan  base  of  family,
friends and teammates, Chase Nevills won against Chris Noto with a final
score of 6-3 in a remarkable match; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  a  sport  such  as  wrestling,  which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach Clay Russell worked hard to  hone
the  skills  of this champion, teaching this outstanding athlete lessons
since he was in 5th grade, which will prove invaluable both on  and  off
the mat; and
 
  WHEREAS,    Chase   Nevills   has   clearly   utilized   dedication,
determination and teamwork in providing a lasting  contribution  to  the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, therefore,
be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Chase Nevills upon the occasion of capturing the  124-pound
Division  II  wrestling title at the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships on
February 24, 2024; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That copies of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Chase Nevills and Coach Clay Russell.
