CONGRATULATING Faith Williams upon the occasion of
receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award, Cadette
Scouting's highest award and Girl Scouting's second
highest achievement
WHEREAS, Faith Williams was honored with the Girl Scout Silver
Award, Cadette Scouting's highest award and Girl Scouting's second
highest achievement; the ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 5,
2019, at Farmingdale High School, New York; and
WHEREAS, Faith Williams is a member of Girl Scouts of America Troop
3191, Farmingdale, New York; she has been a Girl Scout since
Kindergarten and plans to continue until she receives her Gold Award;
and
WHEREAS, She has participated in the Color Guard, earned her
leadership award and volunteered to make sandwiches for the homeless at
Hope For The Future; Faith Williams has also managed several Girl Scout
events for younger troops; and
WHEREAS, An eighth grade Honor student at Howitt Middle School,
Faith Williams is a member of Daler Buddies and Student Council; she
also participates in the cast and crew for the school plays and plays
Lacrosse; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people
the goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of
working with others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride,
and encouraging community service and success; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons of the countless
hundreds of thousands who have participated in Scouting programs which
have made Scouting an American and international institution; and
WHEREAS, Faith Williams completed a Silver Award community service
project which she planned, developed and executed; for her project she
created educational games, along with printouts, banners and signs for
elementary kids learning Spanish; and
WHEREAS, Faith Williams worked with the teachers and two Spanish
speaking students from Miss Shelley's Upward Prep School in Roosevelt,
New York, to make her project a success; and
WHEREAS, The Silver Award is earned over a two-year period; it is
tangible evidence of Faith Williams' high character and commitment, and
is a harbinger of her future service to her community, New York State,
and the Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Faith Williams, recognizing her achievement in earning the
Girl Scout Silver Award, and to wish her continued success in all her
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Faith Williams.
