COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of the
Heroines of Jericho of New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Heroines of Jericho of New
York, to be celebrated at its Rubies & Diamonds event on Saturday, April
27, 2024, in Eastwood Manor, in the Bronx, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Heroines of Jericho, led by Heroine Karen Thompson, the
Most Ancient Grand Matron, and Knight Anthony Curtis, the Most Worthy
Grand Joshua, bring the excellence of the elders and continue their good
deeds with honor, pride, and an unwavering sense of service; and
WHEREAS, The Heroines of Jericho have exemplified 100 years of
charitable good, from feeding the homeless, mentoring the community
youth, working with, and donating to the local NAACP, and undertaking
any and all missions that allowed them to fulfill the needs of their
community; and
WHEREAS, It is imperative that the citizens of this State recognize
the consistent and tireless efforts of the Heroines of Jericho, leading
by example and putting forth every effort to strengthen, unify, and
uplift the community which they so dedicatedly serve; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Heroines of Jericho, Most Ancient Grand
Order of New York, is in direct correlation to the efforts of its
members, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all their endeavors; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proudly moved to honor and commend
the Heroines of Jericho, Most Ancient Grand Order of New York, whose
members have labored so conscientiously to secure and improve the
quality of life for the community it serves; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Heroines of Jericho of New
York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Heroines of Jericho.
