HONORING Bill Meyers upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Citizen of the Year
Award by the United Way of the Adirondack Region
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those distinguished citizens who devote their life's work and
purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Bill Meyers upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Citizen of the Year Award by the United Way of the Adirondack Region
which was celebrated at its Annual Dinner on Saturday, March 9, 2024;
and
WHEREAS, Bill Meyers received this prestigious award for his
steadfast and unremitting commitment to his beloved community of
Plattsburgh, New York; and
WHEREAS, A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Bill Meyers attended
college in the western part of the state prior to relocating to the
North Country of New York State in 2003; and
WHEREAS, Bill Meyers credits the citizens of the Adirondack Region,
including the members of the Plattsburgh Noon Rotary Club, with his
becoming involved in numerous community organizations; and
WHEREAS, Presently, Bill Meyers is the Market Area Manager for
Casella Waste Systems; he has been involved in the North Country Chamber
of Commerce, serving on the Board of Directors for six years; he is
grateful to be part of the United Way and its efforts to assist the
community it serves; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife and two children,
lending him support; Bill Meyers credits so many individuals and
organizations in the North Country with his desire to serve others and
make a difference in the world; and
WHEREAS, The dedication and selfless endeavors of the community's
members have been an inspiration to Bill Meyers through the years, and
he has made a positive impact on his neighbors; he is affectionately
described as kind, humble, generous, exemplary to numerous young people,
and devoted to his family; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their communities and have shown
a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bill Meyers upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Citizen of the Year Award by the United Way of the Adirondack
Region; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Bill Meyers.
