CONGRATULATING pitcher Alexander Johnson upon the
occasion of being drafted in the 36th round of the
2019 Major League Baseball Draft by the Cincinnati
Reds
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those exemplary athletes who excel in professional athletics,
distinguishing themselves through notable achievements and representing
this great Empire State with pride and determination; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate pitcher Alexander Johnson upon the occasion of being
drafted in the 36th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft by the
Cincinnati Reds; and
WHEREAS, A star pitcher for McKinley High School PS No. 305,
Alexander Johnson is the first Buffalo Public Schools league player to
be taken in the Major League Baseball amateur draft in 47 years; and
WHEREAS, Alexander Johnson has dreamed of playing in the big leagues
since he first picked up a glove at the age of 12; today, this city kid
throws a low 90s fastball, and consistently strikes out his opponents;
and
WHEREAS, A gifted athlete, Alexander Johnson has become a role model
in the sport of baseball; his character and achievements stand as a
sterling example and inspiration to all who would aspire to success; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by Alexander Johnson is due
in great part to the efforts of Coach Dominic Massaro and Coach Charlie
Karstedt, skilled and inspirational tutors respected for their ability
to develop potential into excellence; and
WHEREAS, The auspicious occasion of his selection in the 36th round
of the Major League Baseball Draft provides a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to honor Alexander Johnson for his extraordinary
athletic accomplishments which are a tribute to his skill, dedication
and commitment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate pitcher Alexander Johnson upon the occasion of being
drafted in the 36th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft by the
Cincinnati Reds; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Alexander Johnson, Coach Dominic Massaro and Coach
Charlie Karstedt.
